94 isuzu pickup charging system issues
I was given a 94 pickup (2.3 carb manual) about 2 weeks ago and it has some issues. It had a rattling noise that i was told is a throwout bearing. weird thing is that it's stopped rattling after sitting for a few days and not driving. The biggest problem is with the electrical system.
The battery, brake, and o2 lights started flickering and would stay on the other day and then the truck wouldn't start. So i had to have the truck jump started and got it home. The battery was only reading 11V and i could turn the alternator belt with my hand. I loosened the alternator and the belt looked fine, so i tightened the alt. to where i couldnt turn it. I had the battery charged and checked at Oreilly and it was reading 12.6V when i hooked it back up.
I started the engine and it read 14V or so and the indicator lights were off and the stereo worked again. It worked for about an hour of driving. Belt is still tight.
Now the battery is reading 12.11 and dropping when the truck is running unless i rev the engine very high. Should i replace the belt? (maybe the original was stretched?) And i can't seem to find the external voltage regulator to check it. Says left inner fender but i don't know what it even looks like. The pics on the auto parts sites look nothing like what i'm seeing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
