One of the tubes going down through the rocker cover into the head is getting coolant in it, resulting in the spark arcing out. i took the rocker off and it looks like the tubes need to be pressed out (and in). I rang holden and they tell me they're part of the head, which sounds a little stupid to me if they corrode like this, but i've never had one off so don't know if they're correct. They also suggested I had a cracked head - but it doesn't overheat or anything. Anybody had a head off and can confirm if they can be removed/replaced without removing the head? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've never had mine off so cant confirm it. Probably your best bet is to sign up on planetisuzoo.com and pm Jerry Lemond (jlemond). He worked for 20 some years for isuzu training mechanics and knows absolutely everything about them. Can also ask in the main pages there and someone might know.< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-44";

Thanks, I did contact him and he suggested that is most likely a cracked head. Not the news I was after.... but very helpful chap.

I'm going to try and bodge it by filling the tube (with the plug and COP installed) and see if the missfire goes away. I figure provided I can undo that, I'm not risking much. I don't know what yet, I've seen posts on oil filled tubes that don't effect the performance so maybe a squirt of oil (I assume it's non-conductive) might be a start. Or an expandable foam or something else that's easy to get out. Any idea's anyone has I'd love to hear about.

For anyone who comes across this problem, I seem to have remedied the mis-fire by packing the spark plug tube with grease - so far so good, and it may still have a cracked head, and it may only provide temporary relief, but then it may see the life of the engine out. will post a follow up in a month or so.< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-44";

FYI - the grease didn't last....

But, i did find this magical sealant at bigW - comes in a clear bottle about 300ml, around $10-it's a metallic bronze colour and you put it in your radiator - this eventually (though perhaps temporarily) stop the tube filling up with water, and therefore the short. seems like good stuff, i told a mate and he confessed a car yard he worked at had a policy of it being the last thing they did to every car that left the lot....
