I have a 2001 Rodeo LS, V6 4wd. Our CEL has been on for about five years and no garage to date has been able to get it to stay off, even the Isuzu/Saturn dealership. Mind you when I told them after the big 100K maintenance work that I couldn''t get it into 1st gear they said there was a "break in" period for the trans fluid, so my confidence in them is no existant. I saw in one of the posts here about the OEM spark plugs which I have ordered and will try tomorrow when they come in but what about the fuel light. Any thoughts on either of these as I am fustrated with having a very good vehicle with these little issues that no one can fix and spending money in vain.

Is your fuel gauge flaky or not working at all? If so then the fuel sending unit is bad. Very common on 2nd gen rodeos. Results from very high sulfur content in fuel which has now been federally regulated to much lower levels. I dont remember if the sending unit can be replaced separately or if the whole fuel pump needs replaced on ''01 rodeos. Do a search for "fuel sending unit" on planetisuzoo.com and you should get tons of posts with an answer.

On some vehicles a bad fuel sending unit will cause a CEL, not on all of them though.

Gas cap was the first thing we checked on the recommendation of a friend, but thanks for the note, much appreciated. And a note to Dave, tks on the fuel sender unit thing. I spoke with the other two Rodeo owners we know and they both got %$#@!& by the Isuzu dealership for a new fuel pump unit $750.00 installed and they have the same problem again. One of the guys has his Rodeo up for sale, fed up with the little wiring gremlins.
