I DECIDED THAT I MAY HAVE GOT SOME BAD GAS AND FILLED IT UP WITH HIGH TEST GAS. IT STILL MADE THE NOISE FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN STOPPED AS SUDDENLY AS IT BEGAN. Your problem is the gasoline grade that you are using. if you wish to use a gasoline of lesser grade, then you have to take your trooper to a mechanic, so that they may adjust the ignition timing.

My valves started getting a bit rattly, and I was told by an Isuzu Mechanic (works at a dealer) that noisy valves is pretty common. He also said that what he recommends is using Mobile One zero weight thirty ( 0 W- 30 W) synthetic oil. After about six or seven hundred miles, the noise goes away. I tried it, and the noise was drastically reduced for several months. It seems to be building up again, though. I'm going to change the oil again, tomorrow, and hope that it gets quiet again.

This valve noise is comon. My '94 Trooper S dd it, and my current '96 Trooper S does it. As others have said, keep your oil level properly topped off to minimize this problem.

Hey trowbridge73: When you had the machine shop fashion you some mechanical valve lash adjusters, how much did that cost, if you don't mind me asking? Did you install them yourself, or did the machine shop install them? Thanks,

David
