dad asked me to search for online sources for shocks. he's planning to give his best friend new shocks for his Trooper. i saw some good deals at Shock Absorbers Direct but don't know what brand or shock type should i prefer.

for those who've made shock mods on their trooper, can u pls give some advice. if there are also other sources pls let me know

Welcome to the forum if it hasn't been said yet!

The type of shocks really depends on how the vehicle is going to be driven......If strictly offroad, then a Bilstein HD is the way to go, along with Rancho 9000 s or similar.

If mixed use, then an adjustable shock seems the way to go. Rancho has them.

If strictly a road driver, then most street shocks offered would be fine, but any gas charged shock is generally preferred to help eliminate some of the "looseness" or sway that Troopers demonstrate. Another improvement is polyurethane sway bar bushings, to help keep the Troop a little more enjoyable to drive.

Hope this helps

I put KYB shocks on mine the white colored ones and seem to work .
They have heavier duty one's in red. I just did not want to go heavier duty and have a stiff ride.

I did the Rancho rs5000 and am happy but I dont have anything to compare it to. My trooper still has a lot of sway when turning despite the new shocks.
