trooper 1989 problem

hi


i have a trooper 1989. i was driving it in highway today when the red engine light went on and in a few sec, the engine went off. i tried to start up again several time. it starts but does not turn on. can anybody tell me what could be wrong? thansk

I`ll be watching your thread with interest because I am in a similar situation.


Mine ran until parked then failed to start. I checked to see if there was fire through the ignition system and there was. When I checked for fuel delivery I founf no gas being pumped from the pump. I changed the pump and now I have fuel delivered to th engine but it still will not fire up and run again.


Don`t know what tests to run now. I have being in these shoes. don`t you? I`m a thousand miles from home and running uou of money. The trooper has been so reliable that I was fully trusting in it to make this trip. Oh well.


I can tell you how to do basic tests for fire and fuel to help you isolate the nature of the problem if you wish. Take care. Bob

there are more than one fuel pump fuses. i believe that there are three in the fuse box. my trooper did the exact same thing. i replaced the fuel pump and i got nothing. went back to the fuse box and found the other fuses. i replaced them and the rig fired right up.
