Heater core
Just thought I would pass along this tidbit. Trooper heater cores are very expensive compared to other cars like a Pathfinder. For whatever reason a new heater replacement runs over 300 dollars and they're made like many modern radiators, with aluminum and plastic. I held off buying one because it never gets very cold where I live but, I always wanted one for those rainy nights just to keep the windshield from fogging up. Well, good news, Partsgeek.com offers both the expensive version AND a reasonably priced model for under 50 dollars. More like around 40 dollars actually. I bought one and it looks exactly like the expensive model. The plastic turns me off but, when I change it out, I can send the old one to a radiator shop to have an all-aluminum unit made to keep in reserve. Why it's so much cheaper? I have no Idea. Maybe it was part of an inventory liquidation. Whatever, it's a good time to buy if you have been dealing with no heat or a slightly leaky heater.
