electrical problem leading to intermittent starting
I have an 89' trooper that has been having intermittent starting problems. It only happens after I have been driving it for a bit, 20 min or more and then stop the engine. When I try and restart nothing happens, no fuel. I have confirmed that when this happens the fuel pump is not running and supplying fuel to the carb. I have installed a new fuel pump, new pump relay, checked all fuses. I have also tried jumping the fuel pump at the relay and still not go. What Im wondering is if there is another link in the fuel supply circuit, like say the ECU, that might be going bad. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My 1991 Trooper has recently begun having exactly the same symptoms. Intermittent, cold starts fine, then after a mile or two if I turn it off it sometimes will not restart. No lights on dash, no noises...nothing - like a completely dead battery. Very frustrating and after looking around the web I found this forum - still no answers...
