I am looking at getting a 99 model to fix up, and I''m reading through these forums (all good stuff, by the way), and somebody lists an 02 model with a CRDI turbodiesel motor! I think it was denstrooper.

My question is, is this a rare setup, or is it aftermarket of some kind? Also, what kind of power and mileage do you get?

I''ve been trying to find an old dodge cummings truck to play with some bio-d, but would much prefer a good-sized SUV.

As usual with all the cool car stuff, the USA has been left out. The diesels
were available pretty much everywhere except the USA. The Trooper is
known as a BIghorn outside of the USA, fyi. I too wanted to convert my
2001 to diesel for Biodiesel, but the engines are very expensive to get
shipped here.

I guess we were talking about the 3rd generation Troopers. There are
definitely no diesels in my local junk yards and my eyes have been wide
open for years. And, yes, that is how you spell ''definitely'', armytrooper.

Oh I''m sorry if my spelling is not up to par. I really didn''t think it would hurt
your feelings. Anyway if you keep looking I''m sure you can find what your
looking for. You were able to find some info here, so continuing to look on
the internet will help I''m sure. I know for a fact that there are some in
central texas. It''s easy to talk trash on a computer, and just as easy to look
and find what your looking for. I hope 96gxe5spd can look past some ones
spelling. Good luck 96gxe5spd.

I think 96gxe5spd is way ahead of you. You could of just offered some real
help in your original post, not just some lame ''open your eyes'' snark. Ah
well, you''re young. Benevolence will come with time.

96gxe5spd: The engine you are looking for is a 4JG2 3.1 L Diesel, available
in Troopers from 1998 on. They are hard to find. Our revised 2nd addition
Troopers were not offered with a diesel option by the time they were killed
off in 2003. If armytrooper will extend any further help, maybe he can hook
you up with an engine.

Otherwise, talk to these guys. http://risingsunengines.com

Well I guess I did hurt your feelings. Sorry about that. I am glad that one of
us was able to help. I didn''t know the engine model number, so thanks for
that help. Anyways I hope 96gxe5spd can find what he''s looking for. Sorry if
my first post offended anyone, it was not my intention.
