I just bought a used 993.2L Rodeo motor that I will be swapping into my 98 Rodeo. I was disappointed to see the numbers inconsistent as I bought it from Attarco and they''re usually pretty good about leak down and compression tests before selling their motors. I know that cylinders shouldn''t vary more than 10%, but what do you guys think?Should I suck it up, or ask for an exchange?

Crank is on the left hand side:

165, 190, 190
190, 200, 180

I think the cylinder with 165 may have bad rings. I poured in oil and it jumped to 190.

I would be worried about the one with 165 as well. Sounds like you are on the right track, bad or stuck rings on that cylinder. You might try pouring some light oil or penetrating oil in there and let sit over night to see if that free''s them up if they are just stuck.
