Hello everyone, I hope not to take too much of your time.

I have recently found a car that I like and I am thinking of trading my current Grand Am in for a 99 Rodeo LSE with 75K (asking 9,995). I did take it for a drive last night and I really like how there isn't much body roll and it does have some power compared to my current 4 cly. Engine compartment was filthy, looks like it has been on gravel roads or something.

Can anyone give me a few pointers on any known reliability issues with these or things to look for? I want an SUV 99-01 (I really like the Rodeo) for the CO weather, and I know for instance with my GA on the V-6 the headgasket and LIM gaskets are known to fail...

The engine was nice (is that a 3.2L?), although the idle would drop when changing to Drive from Park and come back up after engaging. (I drive a 5 spd. and I am not too sure on how these should operate).

Sorry for the long post, any words from current owners would be helpful.

THNX!!

I bought my 2001 Rodeo last January and love it. I have had two minor problems that every Rodeo owner seems to come across, the fuel sending unit and the EGR valve CEL code. The EGR valve cost me a dollar and 10 minutes of my labor to fix, however the fuel sending unit requires taking out the gas tank but only costs 40 for the part (the dealer will charge $600). Personally, I love mine it has 76,000 miles and drives great. From what I've read on these things there is a short list of common issues and once you get past those they last awhile. My friend's has over 200,000 miles on it!

Hope this helps.Edited by: Rodeochick

ok here is the low down on isuzu, the fuel senders go bad,the egr cloggs up, if they have not been well maintained they will burn oil and u will never know unless u check it or until it locks up on u,accumulator piston covers leak on the tranny,1870 slip codes causing cel requiring trans replacement if u want the light gone. now for the good if maintained they will last 4 ever, now having worked as an isuzu technician i see the worst of the worst i dont get to see the large percentage of isuzus that never have a problem,i can only tell u what i see most often and that even with those problems that i see i still happen to like them.
