I have a V6 3.2L Rodeo with the 5 speed transmission. No cel's or other lights except for the o2 light. Everyonce in a while the car will stahl when ive come to a stop. That or when I shift to nuetral coming to a stop the car will automatically fluctuate revs from 750 to 2000 and then back down to 750 back up to 2000 etc etc. Sometimes when I accelerate from a stop it will stutter almost as if theres a fuel clog or something. Almost like a tranny is slipping. There is no tranny light on though. The exhaust has a small opening at the catalytic convertor.

What could be causing this. Ive heard of diagnostic mode, will that only tell you a cel? It wouldnt tell you why the o2 light is on would it?

The other problem I have is the heat. It takes FOREVER to get WARM and at that it sometimes smells. Even after a 1 hour drive the engine temp is only at maybe 1/8th over cold. Bad thermostat? Could it have been removed?

Thanks for the help gang. Sorry for being the newbie... the search engine wasnt too good to me unless I was looking up the wrong terms.

I had the same problem this weekend. After replacing the throttle position sensor. Turned out to be a broken wire to the fuel pump. Look on top of the tank for wires that show no or poor connection. Just a thought...Ed
