Default starting problem

Hi, Have a problem getting my rodeo denver 4x4 double cabin pick-up to start. I think it might have something to do with the immobiliser. It happens from time to time when I put the key in the ignition and turn I get a clicking sound which to my ear doesn't sound like the starter turning. No activity is heard from the engine, the dashlights come on okay but the engine doesn't start just repeated clicking. Can usually get the engine started if I use a jumpstart unit that I own but it's not even responding to this method now. I've switched on the lights and they are bright not dimmed so don't think it's the battery. Have a feeling the immobiliser is stopping the engine starting. I have heard that if I remove the battery terminals and touch them together for 20 secs this resets the immobiliser but haven't tried this yet as I don't want to lose pin code for the radio. Any suggestions?

Have you had the starter tested yet? What year is your Isuzu?

Managed to get it started. Battery was very low but need to check alternator is working properly. It's a 2006 model I think. Thanks for the reply!

Do you have a security system and if so I was told that it has something to do with it. I have a 2004 Rodeo and it will do the same, but wait a minute and supposedly the security resets. Interested to find out if you figure something else out...

Turned out to be the alternator. Runs great now. Expensive repair though. Thanks for your replies.
