Default Izuzu rodeo engine replacement

I have been a Honda/Acura technitian for about 6 years now. Yesterday this guy told me to look at his 2000 Izuzu Rodeo since his truck was knocking pretty bad like insane bad. Well i took the oil pan off and when i started taking the Crank Griddle and as i cracked the bolts water came out. So i then kept going and took the lower rod caps off. The bearings where really scratch it looked as if they where starving for oil you could see the heat marks on them. #6 wasnt that bad #5 was a lil worst #4 was a lil worst then #5. #3 was a lil worst then #4, #2 was worst then #3 and #1 was just missing the rod bearing, well not missing but just wore out. So with this said the crank got pretty messed up. The cylinder walls where all scratch up. I told the guy that it was cheaper to pull out one motor from the junk yard or even buy one long block off of a wrecked one. The guy pretty much said man just take the truck off of my hand so he gave it to me for free. So i ran into a 97 V6 3.2l same as the one one i have. My question is can i even do that swap into the 2000? can i use the 97 long block? Thanks

Don't know if you can swap them, but just for reference our '97 has been an incredibly vehicle. It's value in having it on hand for carrying 'stuff' is priceless compared to what it's worth $wise.
