Glow Plug relays and resistor
Hi,
I've got a 2009 rodeo 2.5. I have had an ongoing problem with the glowplugs. As I can gather, there are 2 relays for the glow plug system. Relay 1 provides 12v power to the plugs in the first instance ie when the glow plug light is on the dash (prestart). Once the car has started relay 2 provides power at around 6v (through a resistor) for a further minute or so while the engine is on. When I put an avo meter on the buzz bar cable the power it is at 14v (battery charging power) for the minute or so after the engine is running and causing the glow plugs to burn out. I can take a guess that the dropdown resistor that is meant to limit it to 6v on relay 2 is faulty. I've looked at the wiring diagrams to confirm this but have no idea where it is located? Does anyone know where this is? Or if i am completely wrong then please help!
Thanks.

Hi,
I have 2011 rodeo UK model TFS 85 with 2.5l turbo intercooled diesel 4JK1 - TC and it has no glow plugs working and wonder if I have similar problem. Did you ever find the location of the relays and resister as that would be the first thing I would want to check before removing the intercooler to check power to the glow plug rail (or is there an easier test point to get at?).
Surprised to see you had no replies to your thread in 2021
