Fuel Delivery Problem

I have a 2002 Rodeo 2wd, 3.2 v6. After driving almost 200 miles Friday (mostly freeway) my Rodeo seemed to run out of gas as I neard my destination (N Laws). I had it towed to a local shop, where they replaced the fuel pump on Saturday. It''s now Monday and the car is still in the shop, and I''''m stuck at the N''''laws.
Symptoms: Seems like its running out of gas. It will start if you give it a lot of throttle, but will not run smooth. It did start one time smoothly before the tow truck arrived, but I did not try to drive it.
The only repair was the Fuel pump, and that didn''t fix it. The repair shop said they won''t charge me for the $500 fuel pump since it did not fix it, but they will charge me labor.
Any ideas? I read in an earlier post about a ''''99, that the Fuel Pressure regulatopr can give the same symptoms.
Update: The repair shop gave up and refered me to the local Isuzu Service center. The good news is I was only charged for the towing $60. I''ve arranged for a trip back home and will have to drive back up here to pick up the Rodeo when it''s fixed.

Thanks for the reply Gizmo42. The mechanic did replace the fuel filter and determined we had good fuel pressure. Now the dealership told me it needs at least, the PCM. They want $1100 for a new one. I went ahead and took a chance and bought an identical one from a local salvage yard for $200. The dealership will reprogram it and put it in for another $200.
I hope my gamble with the salvaged PCM pays off.

Last post on topic, I hope.
It was not the pcm. The dealership replaced the MAP sensor and a O2 sensor that had been coding for good while. So it was a combination of the 2 or probalby just the MAP sensor.My service rep apologized for making me buy the $200 pcm, andgave me the MAP sensor, air filter, and a car wash.
O2 sensor, labor, and towing = $480
Hope this helps anyone with the same problem in the future.
