I've got a 94 V6 4WD Passport/Rodeo. Is there anything I could do to increase the MPG? Here is what I can think of:

1. air intake upgrade
2. exhaust cutout MAYBE
3. remove 5th wheel andrack on back
4. remove rusted trailer hitch
5. remove rear seats

Not alot you can do. None of those things will make much difference if any . In fact cold air intake can actually hurt mileage. More air = more fuel to get a propper burn. Exhaust cut out would definatly hurt mileage, it will kill low end torque so you will use more gas on take offs.

About all you can do is keep it tuned up, use all synthetic fluids (some debate on this), drive like an old lady, keep tire pressure up.

I always fill tires above what the owners manual says. Thats usually good for a couple MPG and the tires dont wear any different. Mine says to set to 29 front and back. I run them at 35 (max on my tires is 50).

The way I understandCAI is the engineis supplied with denser air, which in turnhelps the engine breathe better and so it doesn't have to work as hard. You're probably right about the cutout though, it varies from car to car. Thanks for the reply!Edited by: passport105
