Default 1991 Rodeo only drives in 4 low

Hello. I just bought a 1991 Rodeo V6 with Manual transmission and manual transfer case and manual front locking hubs. It drives fine in 4L with front hubs unlocked but does not drive in 4H or 2H. Shifter feels normalish but It does not feel like it is clicking into gear when I shift to 4H or 2H. I assume that there is a problem with the shift forks or maybe a broken gear in the transfer case. I don't know much about these transmissions so I am looking for some advice on how to proceed or what I can check before removing transmission. Thanks!

There was no bushing on the end of the shifter. I figured that out after putting the shifter back in and noticed there was play in the ball and socket. I Replaced bushing and it's working now. The guy I bought it from said the transfer case was bad so I assumed there was a serious issue. Gotta love the easy fix!
