My truck has erratic idle at 153k miles. Seems like the choke has problems. It has stuck in the past (high idle, red hot catalytic converter)and I can massage it and it starts working again.

Is it possible to replace the electronic choke on these trucks? How about the carburetor? Anyone know of a good place to get parts like these?

No joy. The fuse looks good. Any other ideas? I''ve loosened the idle speedadjustment screw and it doesn''t seem to have any affect, either. The truck idles much better when the air conditioner is running.

I was able to get a rebuilt carb from Autozone, which (so far)solved my problems. Wasn''''t too impressed with Autozone''''s carb, though. They just take used cores and rebuild them for resale. The carb I got had a loose bolt, a bolt that was a bit stripped, and some nicks in the wiring. But it seems to have solved the problems.

The Autozone part number for my 92 2.3 engine was:
OPE108
(4 position square plug and second 2 position plug, Hitachi)<! Message ''''"" >

try checking the idle control sensor it should be located direstly in line with the choke it will look like a small back roud or square bow. see your manuel for exact specs. you will need an ohm meter for this.

i got an aftermarket weber carb. it seemed to have solved my problems. at the same time i put on an electric fuel pump because the mechanical one went out. having problems with that now. but the weber carb is a really good one. got it on ebay for about $280, which is cheap compared to the $500 autozone referb. ones
