Default Heater core 97 Isuzu rodeo 2.8l TD

So I'm pretty sure my heater core is leaking, when I turn my heater I can smell the hot coolant. So I'm wondering is there anyway to get it out to replace without taking the dash off? Or, if I disconnect the hoses going through the fire wall, is there some kind of "patch liquid" I could flush through it to potentially block the leak? Or should I just bypass it all together?

Thanks
