Hello, I am new to the forum and have been reading interesting info re: the 99-03 Trooper S Engine. What brought me to the site??? My 2001 Trooper S locked up on me at 68,400 miles Never once did I get an Oil light nor C.E.L. I normally get my oil changed every 3000-4000 miles I have even went 4500 without a problem! I last got my oil changed inAfter reading the numerous post re: oil consumption and engine issues with the 99-03 models I see that I'm Not alone. I'm trying to gather enough information so that I can contact Isuzu to find out if they will help me.

I am the 2nd owner, purchased Trooper w/7000k and yes I know its out of warranty. I've gathered info like other UNHAPPY trooper owners to TRY and get Isuzu to help me. Does anyone have any sugguestion????

Welcome to IF! I wonder in what way your engine is locked. Do you have a good battery when you try to start it? Does the starter do a clicking sound every time you turn the key to start it? Have you cheked the oil lately?

If the battery is drained out from trying to start the engine, you can get a basic battery charger for about $20 in an auto parts store.

yes be sure if its not the starter just clicking, but since isuzu,s burn so much oil when they get high in mileage, its possible that it had gotton to low in oil an siezed.isuzu proably not going to help much since your the second owner, but get ALL your oil change receipts an records together an take them to the dealer they may help.esp if you recently purchased it from a dealer.<read about my oil consumption problem in the IM NEW FORUM.if you havent already it explains what happens with those engines.a new engine about 6000k repair, used around 4000k dollars.if you buy used your getting the same problem.the new engine are updated to solve the oil consumption problems.

Hey, totally familiar stuff for this guy, burned mine at 75,000 km. thats 46,500 miles, 5000 km AFTER a total synthetic change, tranny too, and they said that a "sensor was plugged" or something. Canadian vehicle, blown engine in wisconsin. 2 month wait for money from Isuzu. Would love to help pursue a little justice and payback for the frustration I have went through i tell you. And, the SUV is one of the finest i have ever driven!!!!! I just wish I had better luch with service and support. Isuzu is a HUGE company in japan, their diesels are awesome!!
