So here's the deal. I bought a '90 Amigo with a 2.6L 5 speed about 3 months ago. It's got 180,000 miles on it and I'm having some mind-blowing issues. About a month ago I started to experience a surging idle and some sputtering and loss of power under load (like express-way speeds). One day the truck just died pulling into the gas station; engine wouldn't run on it's own. Had it towed to my garage where I did a good tune-up to it; plugs, wires, coil, cap & rotor. I also fixed the most ridiculous coolant leak I've ever seen. Truck ran great for about 3 weeks, but now it's back to the same issues. Starting three days ago the engine sputters at almost exactly 3k rpm in every gear and in neutral. On my way home from my now confused mechanic buddy's shop last night I noticed the idle was a little high, and it did the surging thing again. This morning it's a no-start. I've got no clue what's going on here. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening. Thanks guys.

Sounds like an intake issue to me. Check the air flow sensor, and make sure there is no obtructions in the intake manifold.

Did u ever get this fixed ?
I have a 92 Amigo that loseses power on hills, and has to be shifted down 1-2 gears to get up a hill. Flat roads it's ok.
