I have a 2000 trooper. Last week the tranny started hesitating and when I turned it off and then back on it stopped. Today it started again and on the way home the trans. went to neutral and I lost all of the gears even if I manuallychanged them. If i turn the car off, I get all of the gears back, but after a few miles I lose them again. Only had the car for about 10,000 miles has 113,000.

Called several shops today. The three respones I got were: that''s strange, torque convertor has gone out it needs to be rebuilt, and one said that it might be going into a "limp" mode to protect itself because of an elec. problem. If the torque convertor goes out does it need to be rebuilt. Any info would be helpful.

P.S. does haynes or chilton make manuals for 2000 troopers? Autozone and O''reilly''s said "no".

Thanks

Hey dude, I feel your pain. I bought an ''''01 Trooper about a year ago with only 84K miles, appeared to be a sound vehicle upfront. Bout 6 months after the purchase the tranny started going south in it. I spent about $1500.00 on it to get it all lined out. Same issues you are having, lose all gears until it cools off. The shop I took it to replaced the shifting actuators, new torque converter, and put a pump upgrade kit in it cause this is a known issue with these crappy chevy transmissions. It is all stable now, although I still have an issue with the P.O.S Torque On Demand system. Good luck.... Edited by: sicilian68
