Timing belt screw up on '96 Trooper 3.2
So Im doing the timing belt on my Trooper...Its a '96 with a 3.2 and 181k miles.I am replacing the belt as a preventative measure, it did not break.I replaced the tensioner and idlers too since I was in there. While I was slipping the belt over the driver's side cam sprocket... the sprocket spun. So I rotated it back to its original position, the pass side cam sprocket and the crankshaft did not move at all.I finished installing the belt and tested it by rotating the crank with a ratchet, everything seemed fine and it moved freely. My questions are:1. Being an interference engine, is it simply a matter of go or no-go? In other words, despite my slip on the cam sprocket, if everything moves freely... am I in the clear?2. Is there anyway to check everything out before putting it all back together and starting it, besides manually rotating the engine?3. If the cam moved separately from the crank and other cam, is it simply a matter of rotating the cam back to its original position? Thanks!Brian
