New Guy, Strange Brake Issue
Hi all, new guy here.
I have owned a lot of vehicles of all kinds but I've never experienced this before. Hopefully, you can give me some ideas.
I recently bought my Trooper and it had a low brake pedal. Oddly, it was consistent as to how low and brake feel.
After a couple of weeks of daily driving, the pedal hit the floor. I had limited stopping power perhaps a half inch off the floor. I installed a rebuilt MC and the pedal was high and solid for the first time. Until today.
The MC, I installed over Xmas. Now, in February, the pedal is back on the floor again. I was driving on a snow-covered road and when I hit the brakes, the ABS kicked in. That's when the brakes disappeared again.
Before replacing the original MC, I had the system pressure bled. The pedal was great the first time I hit it and dropped on the second.
This time, I bled the brakes using the odd sequence I found online.
Two calipers had the normal strong spray and the other two barely dribbled.
I bled each 4 times and the dry ones both shot strong once.
I then cracked the lines at the master. Good one one, NOTHING on the other. Though I'm suspicious of the ABS and have read only a dealer can properly bleed these vehicles (by sequentially opening ABS valves via computer), why would there be no pressure at the MC?
All ideas welcome!
Thanks!
