GROANING 2002 trooper
Hey all, I have a 2002 trooper with 109,000 miles on it, We've owned it since it had 19,000 miles on it. Replaced the transmission at 98,000 miles, and it has had this INTERMITANT groan between 35mph and 45mph, and really is prominent when the temperature is cold out. I have talked with a mechanic and one said the rearend needs to be replaced. I asked him if changing the gear oil would eliminate the noise, and he said no... they have never looked inside the case. I talked with another mechanic and he said to change the fluid and run a high end synthetic in it. the rear end fluid has never been changed as long as ive owned it, and the noise does come from the rear end....
Anyone had a similar issue with this? any suggestions? Thanks
