Your EVAP system collects the fumes from your fuel tank and routes them up to the intake manifold to be "purged" into the manifold, so the fumes will mix with the regular air/fuel mixture, and be burnt in the combustion chamber. Your gas cap and your EVAP lines and solenoids must all be sealed, along with your fuel tank. The whole point of the system is to not allow the fumes to escape into the atmosphere. The system usually keeps pressure in the lines at around 0.5 PSI, and if your computer notices that the purge valve is in the "CLOSED" position, but the system pressure is low, or if it sees that there is flow into the intake manifold from the EVAP system, but the system is telling the computer that there should be no flow, there is a discrepancy in the system, and it will throw whatever code is closest to what the computer believes is happening, given the information it collects from the vehicle.

Here's the hard part: you have to be the interpreter. You have to be able to understand what info the computer is telling you, but be able to translate it into usable information. From the P1441 code, id say you probably have an issue with just the Purge Solenoid, but it IS possible that it is a different part of the EVAP system.
