I am aware of the oil eating issue on these engines but I am curious about what your guys'' insight on this one will be.

2001 with 76k miles, 2wd.

I am going to run a carfax on it but the owner claims that he took good care of it and that it''s showing no problems at the moment. He''s asking $6500 obo but obviously i''m gonna try and haggle that down...

Are there any "sounds" or things I should watch for when I check out the vehicle? I''ve started up 3 different 01s so far, and two of them (both had like 86k miles) had a horrible "rattle" when in Park, and revving the engine up.. Like it rattles after you rev it and the rpm goes down.. But then one of them sounded tight and perfect..

I know I might not be too specific with my questions (so please excuse it hehe) but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks..
