I used to own a 1990 Isuzu Trooper that I loved driving. Actually went
through a complete re-build of the engine and the transmission at the
same time. (3 long weeks of working in the garage every other day after
work...) Anyways, it was lost in an accident some time ago and I am
looking to replace it with another of the same body style (1990-1991). I
like the boxy shape. I want to build it up for a desert rig, lots of
suspension, strong 4x4, heavy duty radiator, off road lights, roof rack,
etc. If anyone has done this already I would love to hear the stories and
see the pictures.
I just took my family out to Race Track Playa,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racetrack_Playa. 25 miles of the worst wash
board road in the world... All in an new 2008 F-150, blew out one tire,
and by the time I was on the pavement again I was so road tired that I
was caught doing 82 in a 65... Turned into an expensive trip. Just one
more reason to build a rig that can handle the rough desert roads...
