89 trooper issue help?
i got a 89 trooper 4cyl 5 speed and i have replaced spark plugs n wires and dist cap and rotor and air filter and fuel filter.. and 02 sensor and the coolant temp sensor is fine. but heres the issue i can start it when the motor is cold and it runs ok and idles ok and as long as its running its ok but if i cut it off while the motor is hott it takes forevor to start? and when it tries to it sputters when i press the gas but once i finally get it running its ok..
also im replacing the alternator and whole distributor monday.. the alternator reads a little low on volts and all the warning lights come on and stay on for a while until i rev it up could it be alternator?
have you noticed if your trooper is rich or lean when this happens? also dose the trooper have a thermal time switch for the ecu? these would be some good points to check. also make sure your grounds are good. an take a quick look at a spark plug. is it white an clean, or is it all black an soot covered?
