Anyone have the diagnosis for a Blinking "Check " on the tod indicator on the dashboard ? Also need a shop manual or cd/rom , that I don''t have to repay for using it in the future ? Also a good supplier of oem parts ? Your help will be greatly appreciated ! Roadblock

hi, I had the same problem on a ''99 trooper. It ended up being a bad
sensor located on the back of the front axel (I think it tells if the axel is
engaged or not). If I recall, it was only $20-30 for the part. I also had to
buy a copper washer (which helps seal it as there is gear lube inside the
axel piece). Hope this helps

Another question is does the low range 4-wheel drive work and the high speed TOD not? If so it mightthe speed sensors in the transfer case, that''s what is wrong with mine. My low range 4X4 works, but the TOD doesn''t, I was told bymy friend, who''s worked on Troopers for about ten years nowthat it was the speed sensors in the transfer case, the sensors are expensive though so I have yet to fix it, so I''m relying on my buddy''s expertise here. That being said, I would try the cheaper and more simple fix that was mentioned earlier first. Just thought I''d throw that out there in case you tried the sensors n the axle and it didn''t fix it. I''m going to try the sensor in the front axle myself and hope that that is my problem, as it is cheaper. I''m glad I saw this post.

I could be wrong about this, but I think with the TOD system the transfer
lever (into 4low) actually makes the gears mesh together... So 4WD
would still work since it''s technically out of TOD mode. The sensor (that
went bad for me) is located on the front axel housing actually senses if
the gears need to be engaged automatically through the TOD system...
To me it would be the most likely problem since it is fairly exposed... And
if you live in a northern climate like me, salt causes all sorts of problem
with exposed wires.

I''m going to try replacing that sensor first, the one in the front axle you were talking about, as it seems easier to get to and a lot cheaper than the ones my friend told me about. I hope it is not the speed sensors in the transfer case, that is going to get expensive and complicated.

I have a 99 with the same problem ('check' light blinking). A mechanic told me it needs 4 new speed sensors, plus a transfer case solenoid ... all together about $1200, mostly in parts. It sounds like the cheaper sensors you mentioned on the axel might be worth trying first, as you said. Did you ever find out if it was the speed sensors or did replacing the other ones help at all? I'm also looking for a place to find parts if any of you can recommend one.
