Default 1991 Trooper Help!

I have a 1991 Trooper. When it is not cranked (the key isn't even in the ignition) there is a periodic buzzing/humming sound coming from the engine. I can't pinpoint where it's coming from or what is causing it. Does anyone know what is going on?

Also about two weeks ago it started having trouble cranking. It seems to be trying to turn over, but it's just not catching and cranking.

If anyone can help with these issues I would greatly appreciate the help.

Default got bees?

Hi Sam

Maybe you've got bees under your bonnet. Just kidding obviously.

Can you tell us more about your Trooper other than it is just a '91. 4 cyl., 6 cyl. 2.8 L, etc. Helps when visualizing these things.

Do you have manuals like a Chilton's or Haynes manual for your vehicle? These may not give you exact answers but can be helpful in figuring out not only the right answer but the right questions to ask.

How many miles on the vehicle? Does it start okay when you want to just start it as normal? Is your battery losing charge? Have you looked at your starter? What shape is it in? Shorting?

Just a few things to think about. These things can take some 'figurin' sometimes ya know.

Good Luck

Sounds like a short in the solenoid and it's trying to engage the starter just slightly. That may also be why it is reluctant to start, burning out the starter motor/solenoid..
