I have a 02 Rodeo 4x4 and the transmission just lost 3rd and drive. I still have my old 01 Rodeo 2x4. Is it possible to swap the transmission from the 2 wheel drive and put it in the 4 wheel drive? Or is that not possible? I feel I already know the answer and that it can’t be swapped due to the difference, but want to be certain before I have it rebuilt.

Also I’m fairly certain it’s a big no, but would an entire motor, and transmission swap make a difference? By that I mean taking both from the old 01 and putting it in the 02. I only ask because the 02 I was driving has 270k miles on the motor, and the 01 sitting around has 125k on it. I love the thing and don’t really want to go buy something different, but I also don’t want to sink a ton of money into fixing the transmission if the motor is going to blow up on me in the next year or 2.
