Unhappy Im worried about the 99 Rodeo I just purchased!

I just bought a 99 Isuzu Rodeo and now i'm worried because of all the terrible reviews I have just read about the reliability and other issues.

I didn't really do much research into the brand I just I wasn't going to purchase a domestic and im not finding a Toyota in the same price range. Am I going to have all kinds of problems with this 4x4 as an everyday driver? Are they really crap the stuff im reading is making me feel like I just threw my money away...i am just starting a family for the first time and went from a civic hatch back that was very reliable but way to small! My mechanic did look it over and it seemed sound just needed some things to pass safety and the back whipper motor was blown....should I be terribly worried?

thank you for reading this!

I don't know much about the 1999 model but my wife has a 2001 V6 DLX model 2x4 and the automatic trans died before 40,000 miles.

Change the trans fluid and filter offen, like every 20,000 miles....just thinking of that I need to do it again too!

How many miles on your new to you Rodeo? 4 cylinder or V6? Auto or stick?

I have a 98 1/2 with 200,000 mls with the V6 manual trans and I love my truck. I also had a 90' truck. I still get 20 mpg and great power. I would say it really depends on the past history but that is true with most autos. The Isuzu's to stay away from are the American made one's 2005 on up . I believe the 99" is 20 % american parts. I am surprise on the high cost of the clutch replacement. other then that it is average. The review are mixed too me.

It's a 1999 Rodeo LS 3.2 V6 manual transmission with 154,000 km's so thats approx 95691 miles. Runs pretty sweet engine sounds good I feel it was taken care of but who knows...always a risk buying used. I just found an article saying GM owned them from 99 and on now I feel sick!! Your saying you think there was only 20% gm parts which isn't so bad but still grosses me out lol if I knew that most likely would of stayed away from the thing now Im just crossing my fingers this will last me a few years with nothing major! I hate anything domestic pretty sad but nothing but horrible experiences has made me feel that way 8(

GM and Isuzu has shared there bed longer then that, but i know how u feel My last pick up was a Chevy 3500 and it was a piece of garbage. It hurt me financially, yet there getting a bail out. Don't feel bad though i feel sorry for those poeple who purchased the 05' and up. Worst truck ever. Used trucks were back on the market within months. Toyota's are very good trucks but very expensive, sound like crap, and not as much fun to drive, well at least to me, and Car & Driver, motor week.....

Our '97 has been solid

1 starter
2 batteries
it's sitting on tires #9 through 12
third set of spark plugs going in today
a few lightbulbs
a water pump
ahhhh ummm 1 timing belt
1 belt tensioner

that's about it for repairs
it's never let us down. Good truck knock knock knock

I have had my 1999 from 46000Km to present 210000km. I love it. Would buy another if they still made them. Replacing the stater for the 1st time. Did an axle seal and a fuel sender. After 200k I would expect no less.

Update on my 98 1/2 Rodeo. At 226,000 miles it is still running strong. I was given truck tires size 225/ 75/ 16 LT but i don't like the ride quality so when i get a chance i will go back to touring tires. but to tell the truth if that is the only think i am complaining about, that should tell you just how well made the older rigs are.I put Mystery oil in the fuel tank[8 oz per tank] and sometimes i add to the engine oil and keep on trucking. I could use some body parts though.

Security...Do what I did. Taking your rodeo to Montana in the summer and let the hail do $4k worth of damage to it. Our insurance gave us a 60% new paint job.
99 Rodeo, hail bigger than golf *****, new paint...priceless!

The first owner had a fender bender on the passenger side [hit a deer] and it needs a good bit of work. but the other day some one hit the drivers side fender and the insurance co. paid on that. I just wish they had hit the other side ugh.
