This is my first post here and would like thank ahead of time for any info. I have read back into the posts here about engine idle on 98 rodeos and notice that every one of these posts have no replies. The issue is the vehicle will idle fine some time and other times will increase to 2000 -2500 rpms in park. Was wondering if anyone could give me and others some solid info on this seemingly common problem. thanks again

You right, this are a commun problem , I also Have the same issue.


Already change twice the IAC valve and the problem remain, somebody told Me that could be the intake gasquet, but I´m not sure because if Where the case , I think the problem will be constant and isn´t.


I also change the EGR and still ...


We really need an expert.

check all vacum hoses, leak hose well sometime do that or gasket leak on intake manifold,[get pronpane tore turn it on without fame just gas if it rpm go up it someplace on the in take there your leak,]speed senor could be going bad,i think it mostly vacum hose,make it run up and down,ive been working on car for over fifty years, [signed guy]; with my 1994 rodeo it eat my lunch,wont rpm up and startes hard im looking in to the pks, postion senor on the crank, gt Edited by: triguy

 

Hi,thanks to triguy for the alternatives, I will verified again the vacum sistem ( My mechanic already did) but We will double check.


Do think that the speed sensor could be damage ??
