I need new shocks for my rodeo so I''m thinking of doing a small lift, like an
inch. I was just going to puck my springs raise the ride heidth up front. my
question was, should i run bigger shocks or just run the stock lengths? Any
other recommendations other than brake lines.

Shouldnt need longer shocks with 1" lift. IMHO its better to go with a 3" lift using OME 912 springs. They are progressive rate and ride much nicer then factory springs. Longer rear shocks will be needed for a 3" lift. Front shocks stay factory length for any size lift.

Curious as to why the front shock length wouldn''t change? The torsion bars move the a arms right?

The t-bar crank only increases the tension on the bars, the control arm stay the same length and in the same place. The geometry stay the same.

Okay, I understand the torsion bar lift now. 3" on stock T-bars sounds easy enough. So,the split drive shaft with an extra 3" at the rear is okay or is that the max before going to a solid shaft?

(If I ever get around to it) I''''d go for the 3" then. Cost isn''t much differant.Edited by: Foglifter

Mine has been fine with the 3" lift. I still have the rear sway bar attached though so that kind of limits things. The biggest problem with rear articulation is the drivers side upper link will hit on the gas tank so you wont get much more drop on that side unless you buy bent links, which arent cheap. With stock length rear shocks, those are the limiting factors. With longer shocks, the sway bar limits it.

Most ppl buy parts or complete lift kits from Matt at independent4x. He owns isuzus himself and does alot of custom stuff on them for other ppl. Great customer service too. Calmini also makes a lift kit but has alot of parts that arent needed and I''ve read complaints about them.

Really good info.

Yep, been eyeballing Indy 4x4 for awhile, for the kit.

They have other specific parts too. Might find tire sets cheaper but a good resource for what is available out there for the Rodeo.

Hope this all helps the original poster. I add my THANKS too.
