I'd bet you have a ground short. I'd try jumping the hot wire back directly to the box. Get a wiring diagram for wire colors and where they go. If the routing is very simple, like maybe the dome light, then you can get a continuity tester to verify the circuit.

I have a 92 and have half of my dash light out. I pulled off the dashboard where the spedometer is and unplugged the wiper and headlight button connectors but i can't seem to locate where the light for the dashboard is.

The lightthat is out isthe light behind the temperature guage. I fear that it may be inside the unit that houses all the guages. I have had no luck removing the guage housing. I've removed the screws but It won't budge.

Default dash lights will not work

Did you get an answer to your problem with your dash lights? I have a 2000 Trooper and am experiencing the same problem. I have checked the fuses, pulled the instrument cluster and have not detected the problem. The four lights in the instrument cluster seem to be ok. Wkhat should I check next? Thanks for any help.
