My 99 has been no trouble for 120k except tranny. Clean and replace filter every 20k!

FWIW, I've owned my '99 Rodeo since new and now have 92K miles. In that time I've only had to replace the fan pulley and clutch (under warranty) air conditioner clutch ($475), belt tensioner pulley ($20), exhaust flex-joint ($130) , Transmission support cross-member that rusted out ($100), intake manifold gasket ($32) and fuel sender ($150 - see below.) The usual shocks, tires, plugs filters, etc., but that is to be expected.

I did have the latest frame repair recall done and you should too if it hasn't been done yet. Since they take the body off to do the welding it was a good time to replace the fuel sender so I let the dealer do it for the $150. Otherwise I would have done it myself for $40.

My main disappointment is the frame and support pieces are so rusted. The exterior body is great but underneath the body there is considerable rust. The transmission support rusted out completely and most of the rear bumper brackets are rusted severely.

Overall I've been very happy with the Rodeo and if yours has been well maintained you should be OK.

Good luck.

I am finding that the cost to change fluids in the gear box and rear end is going up and up and up. Use to pay$50 for both then $100 for both now it is up to $150 - 200 for the same work. I get that ppl need to make a living but, wow.

I had to have my clutch fan pulley replaced but now it runs a bit loud up to 60 mph before it will quite down. but still a great truck.

I love my truck, Great in snow, changed the shocks to heavy duty and use it for home depot wood and sheet rock hauler. The frame sucks and rots away. I undercoat every spring by priming with rustolum rusty metal primer, then paint black , then spray rubber undercoat over the job. A friend turned me onto Rustiloum "Cold Gavanized spray" plan to try that in fall. I cannot complain about rusting as It makes the engines cheap. I purchased a rusty rodeo for an engine I paid $300. There was no way I would have paid over a grand for an old engine.

Upgrade on my 98 1/2 Rodeo. At 226,000 kilometers it is still operating powerful. I was given vehicle wheels dimension 225/ 75/ 16 LT but i don't like the high top quality of drive so when i get a opportunity i will go back to traveling wheels. but to tell the fact if that is the only think i am stressing about, that should tell you just how well created the mature stations are.I put Secret oil in the energy tank[8 oz per tank] and sometimes i add to the motor oil and keep on transportation. I could use some areas of the whole body though.
