Good day everyone!
No one better to ask than fellow isuzu owners. here goes.
I own an automatic 2001 isuzu rodeo 4x4 LS. The problem occured a few months ago and the problems has never been rectified. No local garage with any Isuzu experieince up in the Great White North.
What is happenning is, when ever the road gets bumpy, my "crusie control light" comes on briefly, followed by the "check trans". my RPMs would drop to zero and sometimes would stall, then "check engine light" and everything else will come on. sometimes i can start it from neutral or have to pull over and restart. Sometimes i wouldnt get out of first gear and it would just stall. It would happen too in reverse, if i accelerated to much.
I brought it to a local garage, and they did a complete transmission flush, and it seemd to work for the rest of the day, but the next day it was the same. They did further tests to it and came up with a troque converter problem. I dont know if its true? or not? These guys dont really know Isuzu's. any suggestions for things to look for? Pls help i miss driving my rodoe

I doubt its a transmission problem. Looks alot more like an electrical problem to me. These trucks do very weird things with electrical problems. With the cruise control light comming on I would suspect the brake light circuit first.

I've seen a few problems where the cruise control light came on along with other things, one turned out to be from using LED brake light bulbs. The other ended up being corroded brake light sockets/bulbs.

If you have a trailer wiring harness that plugs into the factory trailer plug (in the jack compartment) try unplugging it. Then check your brake lights and sockets.

RODEOS ARE ALSO FAMOUS,for wiring harness problems right where the power steering reservoir is.there are alot ot splices in that bend in the harness.try grabbing it an twisting it alittlte while the engine is running an pay attention to the idle.if it changes or cuts off,you may have some wires comming apart inside the loom.since it only does it going over bumps.when something it loose or not makin ggood connection.check all of the grounds along the fender, intake, behind the battery,an near the alternator.

yes isuzus are prone you might say to electrical problems so that would be my first stop the stalling and the check engine light though the electrical is probably grounding itself when it doesnt need to be grounded and causing loss of power.

checked the wire harnees and moved it around, the idle did die down when i twisted it a certain way. so i took it for a quick boot, seems to be working right now, but ill go for a longer ride and through a gravel road. seems to be stable, but ill do further checks

no improvement... but its not doing it as frequent as before. is there anything around the transmission that would cause this? a harness around there or a sensor?

I dont think it misses...when everything is working properly, everything is sweet!! but the the odd bump will trigger a chain reaction. and it would try to stall out..but once again after it recovers its all good again.
would the speed sensor or any other sensor by the transmission be faulty or dirty? would the computer have some sort of sensor on the transmission, just to say it is runnin as a safety? im an electrician by trade, so something like that makes sense to me??? i just dont know. any other ideas?
