Default buying a used isuzu

i'm looking for a used Isuzu. i was wondering at how many miles on a used rodeo or amigo i should stay away from, i know the lower the better but what should be my cap; also, what are some other problems i should look out for when on the hunt for a pre-owned Isuzu.

I bought a Rodeo with 110K. The issues I had (and have since found to be fairly common on them) were the gas gauge wasn't working (part on ebay for $30 & labor of ! hour by mechanic). End cap on roof rack was missing and I have seen a few others say the same. Mechanically I haven't seen what the major problems are. I know this isn't much info, but hope it helps.

I got a 99 Rodeo in 2007 at 112,000 miles.

Nothing major has happened to Rodeo.

I believe the national average for miles per year is 12,000. I say multiply that by however many years the car is. if the mileage is higher than that then I say take a closer look at what you are getting yourself into.

well I'd rather look at it the other way, if you have more mileage than average then there is a good chance of it being highway miles. Knew a guy with a van once, about 100k straight hw miles, still had the original brake pads on! so just a personal guess I'd say 100k hw is better than 50k city...
I got a rodeo at 80k, after about 20k more same fuel gauge problem and something with the evap system. but the major thing was the tranny burned up at around 120k. If the filter isn't changed in time that will happen I learned. So find somebody who took care of his car and changed filters & fluids, belts etc. in time. And (after that tranny experience) now whenever i buy something at or over 100k I change all filters & fluids & belts there are anyway....
The one I got right now I bought at 120k, changed everything, mechanically its an ace but it got electrical issues I´m still trying to figure out (see my other posts...)
