Talking Looking at buying an Isuzu for mad green charity drive...

Hi

I'm a new member. I'm currently planning my second charity drive. Last time we aimed to drive from London to Mongolia in a Daihatsu Sportrak. We got as far as Georgia and were turned back by border guards when trying to enter Azerbaijan - they don't like right hand drive cars!

This time we're taking a different route, a different motor, and raising money for a different charity. The charity in question is Get Kids Going!, enabling disabled youngsters to take part in sport.

So, we're thinking of taking an Isuzu Trooper/Big Horn (I'm still unsure of the difference!) We're also wanting to make this slightly more insane Last time around we spent a lot of money on petrol and as well as the obvious damage to our pockets we were concerned about the damage to the environment as well. This time we are intending running on WVO all the way - chiefly by dragging 800l or so with us in the back of the car and on a trailer. Said it was mad didn't I?

I'm thinking long wheel base with a groovy home made contraption attached to the roof that enables us to drop a hammock either side of the car. Last time round we often couldn't find anywhere to pitch a tent and ended up sleeping in the car - not fun more than one night running!

So I need help - advice - recommend cars, modifications, additions... rich friends and family...

I look forward to hearing from you all - even if it is just to point and laugh!

Thanks

Oli

I'm sure it's bad form to reply to your own posts but nm, I forgot to mention! the car will be auctioned for charity in Mongolia, so won't be coming home for us. to this end, the cheaper the better!
