Alternator seems intermittent
The alternator seems to be intermittent.
I have checked the voltage on the battery a couple of times and it is around 12V like the alternator isn't working. If I stop and restart the truck, I get 14V like it is fine. Once I get 14V I can start and stop several times and keep getting 14V.
We have had a couple of incidents where the truck stops running because the battery is dead. I am concern that there is something intermittent going on.
I have checked the wiring and have a new battery and alternator. I just had this alternator retested. It is good.
Is there something else that could make an alternator intermittent?
I was told that some older cars used the Alt(Gen or Bat) light to complete a circuit that would allow the alternator to generate the field that it needs. Is there something in the Rodeo that could be keeping the alternator from working correctly?
