95 Rodeo check engine light
Have a 95 Rodeo 24 valve V6 4x4. Check engine light issue. Basically, the car check engine light is working in reverse. The car struggles to get to speed and sometimes gets close to shutting off until the check engine light comes on. Once the CE light is on , it drives perfectly fine. Taken it to 3 repair guys. The computer indicates it is running lean. So far have replaced radiator ( including upper and lower hoses), wheel barrings, water pump, timing belt, oxy sensor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, pc valve, thermostat, gaskets, fuel filter, egr solonoidd, map sensore, tp sensor, and the coil pack. Still has the same exact problem. Honestly, the 3 repair shops are stumped. Any ideas?
The reason it runs better after the light comes on is because the computer goes into "limp mode" and uses preset figures instead of actually reading the sensors. If its constantly running lean I would look for a vacuum leak somewhere or possibly a bad intake manifold gasket though thats not a common problem on 1st gen rodeos (very common on 2nd gen rodeos though).
