Hi everyone, new to this forum and hoping to get some advise. I have an 08 Rodeo fitted with the Isuzu 4jj1 common rail engine, it has 355km on it so is getting up there. I purchased it rather cheap because the engine has a noise, was told it was big ends but to me it sounds more like a loose tappet, as it will idle nicely with little noise but from 800rpm to 2200 it is noisy, regardless of load, but goes away after that, big ends don't go away! I have adjusted the valve clearance to .15mm, this did not solve the issue. does not blow any smoke that I have seen, reputedly it does not use oil and has plenty of torque etc, I have changed oil and filter and did not find anything untoward in the sump. any advise appreciated.
