Default 2001 Rodeo Clutch Problem

I have a 2001 Rodeo 6 cyl/ 2wd. The throw out bearing went bad so I removed the old clutch and installed a new clutch kit. After I connected the gear back to the engine I engaged the fork lever with the bearing onto the pressure plate. For some reason there is very little travel between the fork arm and the pressure plate. Maybe 1/2". When the clutch is engaged the arm hits the pressure plate not allowing the clutch to fully depress. Now I need to pop the bearing out to remove the trans to figure out whats wrong but there is zero space between the bearing and the retaining ring. I dont know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be happening with the clutch and are there any tricks to popping out that bearing? Is it possible that the clutch kit was incorrect for my application?
