New to this site, just bought a 2001 isuzu rodeo and when I turn the A/C it makes anoise (sort like a rumbling noise rrrrr...rrrr) and it increases as I accelerate. If I turn off the A/C it has the regular'motor sound" so I think has to do with the A/C? - The dealer says that's a normal noise for that particular model?, anyone experiencing this??? apparantely the compressor is new

when it's sitting still, it does, the cluth sounds and then it starts making that rumbling noise, only when the A/C is on. if I'm driving or still with the A/C off I cant hear the noise. The only thing I can compare the noise to is if you put your ear on the back of a refrigerator, that noise the motor is doing is the one I hear in my car.

thanks for replying...

i woudl have to think that there is a problem with the compressor...perhaps look into a second opinion? when my AC comp kicks in, it doesnt make any noise...

I have a 2001Rodeo special edition and mine does the exact same thing only worse. It started out only making the noise when I was not moving and after I started driving would stop. Now, it does it all the time, is EXTREMELY loudand the air will only blow cold when I'm moving. The light on the ac button doesn't light up anymore either. The couple places I happened to beat getting work done think it's the compressor but I haven't been given a definite answer. Could it just need a recharge?Or is that wishful thinking???
