I have an 04 Rodeo. now its the 2wd with 4wd. The car drives perfect in 2wd but when i switch into 4wd a loud ticking noise happens when i drive and only goes away if i go really slow (less than 5mph +/-) when i accelerate it gets louder. 4wd still works but what is that tick? its really loud! should i be worried about it? Any help would be greatful! Thanks!!!

check your CV boots,,, under the engine is the front drive axle ,, if the boots are torn,, good chance you need to replace the cv halfshaft.

having just done this it takes 2 to 3 hours,,, be sure to get the full driveline ,,,not just the half shaft ...because that is what i did and now i have a vibration in the front because the bearing "cup" was probably worn,, so here i go again doing it all over again because i didnt know.

with the half shaft you have to put grease in the inboard boot,,messy,, and install the cv boot clamp ,, so have gloves and access to cv boot clamp tool.

the cv halfshafts are available on www.rockauto.com for 55 bucks
