’97 3.2L coolant leaks - FYI
#1
Sharing an experience to hopefully help someone out...
I started leaking coolant in my '97 3.2L V6 auto. It was coming from behind the engine. I got a tip to check the coolant pipes on top of the block, because they have o-rings which deteriorate over time. Sure enough, there was coolant sitting on top of the block between the heads below these coolant pipes, which are located under the intake. Thought I had it taken care of, but it began leaking again. I redid the o-rings and added RTV. It still leaked. Took it to a shop who pressure tested the system. Good news was that my repair up top was not leaking. However, they found leaking freeze plugs between the back of the block and the tranny housing. This is a 9 hour job. I'm having them do it.
Hope it helps if you develop a leak!Edited by: FL 3.2L
