New Entrant Questions Regarding Insert Use, Calterm/Incal Use?
I have experience flashing large rigs and heavy machinery but haven't delved into tuning yet. Recently, I bought a 2006 5.9 Cummins where some work was done, including tuning and adjustable switches (though I can't remember which brands were used for the switches). However, I have some questions I can't seem to find the answers to.
Question 1: Flashing ECM with nexiq2
I’m currently using a heavy-duty insert with a nexiq2. The NEXIQ adapter works with the collections, and it has a Cummins Deutsch adapter. Can I use this to flash the ECM?
Question 2: Process for Flashing ECM
Is the process like this:
- Save PCM data using Insite
- Use EFI Live** to edit the file
- Save the file and flash it at the end?
I've always wanted to learn more about tuning but hesitated because I didn't want to experiment on customer vehicles or equipment. Since I own a diesel, I feel comfortable trying it on my own vehicle. Besides reading forums, are there any good articles, books, or videos that could help me learn more about diesel engine tuning?
