2005 M3 – ICOM A + ISTA+ Won’t Connect
Hello, I need help.
End goal: read camshaft advance/retard. I tried ICOM A + ISTA+ (newer version) but ICOM would not connect to the car. Converting ICOM to ISTA+ worked fine.
I thought ICOM A was the catch-all for all BMWs but I missed something. I also tried using the Amazon K+DCAN cable (with switch) with the same ISTA+ but was missing something. Next try is INPA. Will this work with ICOM A? Or do I need to switch to a K+DCAN cable?
Correct me if I’m wrong but here is my interpretation: the regular E46 supports the K line and only the E46 M3 supports DCAN.Do I understand correctly? Will INPA work with this car? Is there a specific INPA version I should use? I don’t understand why ISTA+ doesn’t work. I think I’ve seen people use ISTA+ with an E46. What to use and what works? If you have a better answer, please contact me in time. If there is no reply, please send an email to: Sales@obd2.ltd
